Anemia deficiency is a condition in which there is a lack of red blood cells in the body. Red blood cells are essential for our bodies to function properly as they transport oxygen through our bodies to the tissues that need it. Anemia is a fairly common condition and easily treatable.
Blood cells die off after a certain amount of time and new blood cells are created in our bone marrow. In order to produce the new blood cells that our bodies need we must have a supply or iron, proteins and vitamins especially Folic acid and B12.
When someone is anemic they usually complain of feeling weak or faint or dizzy. They are usually constantly tired and lacking in energy as well. There are other symptoms such as dull looking eyes, shortness of breath, headaches, palpitations as well as looking pale and others.
There are several causes of anemia including a reduction of the formation of new blood cells in the bone marrow. Someone who has had a severe amount of blood loss due to injury, or bleeding piles,can also experience anemia deficiency.
Other causes include intestinal parasites or worms that feed on the blood cells or a deficiency of hydrochloric acid in the stomach which helps with the digestion of irons and proteins.
1. Vitamin B12 – this is crucial in the treatment of anemia. This can be found in animal protein and in dairy products. Kidney and Liver are good sources. Vitamin B12 is essential in your treatment for anemia.
2. Spinach – Spinach helps in the formulation of hemoglobin as it is an excellent source of high grade iron so is an excellent remedy for anemia
3. Sunlight – sunshine stimulates the production of red blood cells so is effective in the treatment of anemia
4. Beets – Beets have proven helpful in curing anemia. Beet juice contains potassium, phosphorus, calcium, sulphur, iodine, iron, copper, carbohydrates, protein, fat, vitamins B1 B2, B6, niacin, and other vitamins. Due to their high iron content, beets help in the formation of red blood cells which are needed to cure anemia.
5. Other Good Foods – apples, lettuce. Almonds, sesame seeds, honey, bananas, black grapes, raisins as some examples.
6. Diet – A recommended diet for people suffering with anemia should be rich in iron and you should avoid things like refined foods like white bread or white sugar etc. You should emphasize eating fresh fruits and vegetables rich in iron.
