When it comes to fat loss, creating a calorie deficit should always be your primary focus.

While there are many ways to create a deficit, adding fruits into your diet can be a fantastic way to help do so.

Remember, contrary to what you may hear, there is NO fruit that will inherently make you fat!

Now what DOES make you fat, is an over-consumption of calories on a regular basis.

Fruits like strawberries, blueberries, raspberries (and other berries), are great low-calorie, filling fruit choices. When in season, watermelon and cantaloupe are also some of my go-to fruit options due to their high water content & filling nature.

Fruits like avocados are also among some of the most tasty & nutritious, but calorie-dense fruit options out there.

With the goal of fat loss, limiting your intake of dried, higher-calorie fruits like raisins and dates can also assist in creating a calorie deficit.

While there’s nothing wrong with any of the fruits listed above, the calorie content of each is something you should be aware of when deciding which fruits to add to your diet.

Remember! It doesn’t matter how “healthy” a food is. The calories still matter!

If fat loss is your goal, I’d recommend making the bulk of your fruit choices like the ones on the left, while adding the ones on the right in moderation.
