To build muscle, we need to be in a caloric surplus. To lose fat, we need the opposite which is a caloric deficit. The terms “macronutrients,” “calories,” “tracking macros,” among others, often get tossed around and it’s easy to lose sight of the fact that we are actually talking about food and not just a bunch of numbers. While the numbers are important, those numbers are obviously made up of food and we should be doing our best to compose our diets of as many high quality foods as possible, regardless of the macros.
