It’s summertime, and there’s a whole lot to love about this season until you look into the mirror and see your skin a shade or two darker. Exposure to the sun in excess can lead to hyperpigmentation, roughness, and sack essential moisture from the skin. Tanning is the most common skincare problem when you’re out in the sun for far too long. But tanning is more than what appears on the skin surface. It also makes skin rough, dry, flaky, and dull too. If you’ve ever come across this problem, you’ve probably asked yourself how you can remove sun tan from your face overnight. While a suntan will eventually fade out with time, if you’re in a hurry, give these home remedies a try. Truth is you can’t expect miracles overnight but you can make a start by taking care of your skin.
Here’s a quick look at some amazing home remedies that you can consider to get rid of suntan that will work like a charm. And with this, you no longer have to worry about spending too much time out in the sun, or at the beach.
Take a raw tomato and remove its skin. Blend it along with 1-2 teaspoons of fresh yogurt. Apply this paste to your tan, and wash off after 20 minutes. Tomato is rich in antioxidants that help in brightening the skin, while yogurt contains lactic acid which helps nourish and hydrate the skin.

Mix 1 teaspoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice with 1 tablespoon of pure honey and apply it to your face. Leave it for about an hour and wash it off with cold water. While lemon juice is a natural bleaching agent, honey ensures that moisture is retained in the skin.
Add 1 teaspoon of turmeric to a cup of gram flour, and mix some rose water or milk to make a thin paste. Apply this mixture evenly on your face and neck, and let it dry, before gently scrubbing it away using lukewarm water. Turmeric is an excellent skin brightening agent while gram flour (besan) helps lighten the skin effectively.
To 2 tablespoons of rice flour, add some cold milk in proportion to form a thick paste. Apply it all over your face and let it dry for an hour or two. Wash off with cold water. Rice flour is heralded for its brightening ability while milk acts as a natural exfoliator that helps get rid of tan.
Soak 3-4 strands of saffron in 5 tablespoons of milk overnight. The next morning, apply this milk to your face and neck and leave it for about 2 hours before washing off with cold water. Saffron is a natural skin brightener while milk works on removing the skin’s dullness and gives it a natural glow.
To 2 tablespoons of sandalwood powder, add a few drops of rose water until it is a runny paste. Apply evenly onto the skin and leave it on for 2-3 hours. Wash off with cold water. Together, both ingredients work to soothe the skin and improve its appearance.
